Journalist Geert Jan Hahn of BNR Newsradio recently highlighted the vital work of LifeLine Ukraine in his latest report. During his visit to the children’s hospital in Chernihiv, Hahn detailed the immense challenges faced by medical staff in Ukraine. The hospital was transformed into a military hospital during the Russian siege of Chernihiv. With support from LifeLine Ukraine and other international donors, efforts are underway to rebuild and provide psychological and medical assistance.
However, the recent missile attack on the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv has brought back painful memories for the staff and children. Tetyana Lebedeva, the director, expressed her helplessness and determination to continue providing care despite the dangers. Hahn’s report underscores the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the critical role of international support. LifeLine Ukraine is actively facilitating humanitarian aid, contacts in the Dutch healthcare system and has provided a new energy-efficient kitchen for the hospital to reduce dependency on electricity.
