Together with Solarge, Stichting de Boomgaard, and HUP Foundation we make two hospitals in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, completely independent of the local energy grid.

1) Mykolaiv Regional Children’s Hospital – with 430 beds, 15.000 inpatient treatments and 55.000 consults per year.
2) Mykolaiv Maternity Hospital Nr 1 – with over 500 childbirths per year and 2500 patients per year

⚡ Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is a systematic target of russian attacks, causing destabilization and disruption of essential services. Ukraine faces “severe disruptions” this winter, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has warned. This destruction has forced Ukraine’s power system to operate in “emergency mode,” limiting electricity supply to a few hours per day all over the country. During peak demand periods in 2024, Ukraine experienced a 2 GW shortfall (comparable to 2.627 completely charged Tesla Model 3s’ or 100 million LED bulbs), further straining the power supply to vital facilities, including hospitals. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, “Energy resilience is one of our greatest challenges this year.”

🎬
In response, our project aims to partially address this crisis by installing off-grid solar energy systems in 2 critical healthcare facilities. These systems, comprising solar panels and battery storage, will provide a reliable, self-sufficient source of power that does not rely on the national grid. The project objectives are to:

🔋 Provide a reliable and clean off-grid solar energy system and battery solution to critical healthcare infrastructure in Ukraine.

📊 Lower the energy costs for two hospitals in Mykolaiv Region by installing an off-grid solar energy system.

🏥 Enhance energy resilience for hospital buildings by installing PFAS-free, lightweight, and fully circular Solarge solar panels.

♻️ Educate and involve the local community in sustainable energy practices.

Solarge provides high tech durable solar panel systems, Stichting de Boomgaard and HUP Foundation provide funding, and LifeLine Ukraine.org Ukraine supports the project with “boots and brains” on the ground in #Kyiv, #Mykolaiv, and other regions in Ukraine to ensure successful project identification, planning, execution and completion.
