In times of ongoing threat and attacks on vulnerable infrastructure, it is crucial to have shelters where safety is guaranteed. President Zelenski’s wish is that more than 4000 locations in Ukraine can have access to these essential resources day and night, the Points of Unbreakability.
The government’s advice is to quickly provide the addresses of these locations in case communication and/or electricity is disrupted again. These refuges are often found in municipal or government buildings and demonstrate the determination of Ukrainians to survive and support each other in difficult times. During power outages, these places provide a safe haven of stability, warmth, and social connectedness.
LifeLine Ukraine is preparing four additional locations in the Kherson region that will offer all these services. They are currently undergoing extensive renovations, furnishing, and the installation of sanitary facilities. One of the locations will be used to provide legal assistance to citizens, and two other locations will be set up as spaces where children can learn.
The Points of Unbreakability include:
- Electricity
- Charging points for internet and phone
- Warmth
- Water
- First aid
- Sleeping accommodations
- Care and attention for mothers with children
