“I thought about my family, about my children. I still wanted to see them grow up, and I want to see our victory…. Yes, some parts are now missing, but I can live quite well,” says Vyacheslav, who was seriously injured in the Donetsk region and uses the rehabilitation gym to recover from his injuries. Vyacheslav lost his left hand, a finger on his right hand, and was wounded in his leg during an exchange of fire. Despite these injuries, he remains hopeful and resilient.

Vyacheslav is not alone. Currently, there are 1.2 million veterans in Ukraine, and this number is expected to rise to 5-6 million, including family members. These veterans need comprehensive support to rebuild their lives.

Thanks to one of our generous donors, Vyacheslav and other veterans can use a fully equipped rehabilitation gym. This facility not only aids physical rehabilitation but also provides a place for veterans and their families to connect and socialize. The gym was officially opened by the former Dutch Minister of Social Affairs and Employment on April 26th.

The gym is located in the Kyiv Military hub, where veterans and their families receive various forms of support, including counseling, mediation, crisis intervention, social adaptation, and physical and psychological rehabilitation.

The rehabilitation gym in Kyiv is a beacon of hope and recovery for Ukrainian veterans like Vyacheslav. It symbolizes the resilience and determination of those who have sacrificed so much. With continued support, we can help more veterans rebuild their lives and reconnect with their families.
